Traveling is (in my non-expert opinion) the best way to learn about culture, people, and most importantly yourself. When I’m lost, be it in a city square, downtown district, or in the woods, I find a new piece of myself. Like a raindrop running across my windshield, I’m constantly absorbing lessons, appreciations and new mindsets and leaving part of myself behind in the form of old concepts, ideas, and habits.
I’m not sharing these experiences to exalt myself and show the world how ‘cool’ I am for having been there and done these things. Rather, for the budding traveler, here are a few tried and loved adventures you can use as a starting point for your own adventures. I want to use this section of The S&&S Co. to show those of you who fear the world because of what is on the television that what is reported is only 1% (if even that significant) of what is out there.
Even for those ‘locals’ who live in the places I’ve ventured, I urge you to explore. The tourist is always in the moment. When you have the been-there-done-that mindset, you risk losing out on the best details. An adventure can be as simple as trying to study at a new coffee shop or eating at a mom and pop restaurant you haven’t been to before. Drive downtown and find a parking space and walk until you find the best smelling food truck. Explore! Adventure! Live!
